The punchline: This is an actual straight-to-video movie produced and directed by Darrell van Citters (“Hi Hi Puffy Amiyumi”, “Box Office Bunny”).
He also produced/directed an obvious “Puss in Boots” knock-off, too.

I’ve watched both, and this is much better. This is like a classic cartoon — no overblown saccharine songs, no big “star” voices, no product tie ins. Just a decent story and funny scenes.
