This must be the desert menu.

  2. lexan D says:

And here I thought you only got this sort of thing when eating at the beach.

  3. Ari Gold says:

    i’d buy that..

  4. bluejade says:

    The crunch that refreshes!

  5. Eagle2 says:

    lol. two plese!

  6. ritsu says:

it actually says sand (sa-n-do) in the thing below, lol.

  7. Morgan423 says:

    Yummy!

    • runlevel0 says:

Yeah, specially the gravel between the two plates of sand looks appealing. And what’s that in the middle? Wooden sticks? I’m already salivating!

  8. Someone says:

Sand is bad for you teeth. I hate it when I get sand stuck in mine at the beach.

  9. Hirayuki says:

“Sand” (“sando”) is the Japanese abbreviation for “sandwich” (“sandouitchi”). Move along; nothing to see.

    • Popito says:

Which is precisely why this is in this website. The Japanese katakana (i.e. stupid) abbreviation is サンド, but that is JAPANESE! In ENGLISH, “sand” means something entirely different…

    • runlevel0 says:

      Ah, ok!
      That completely explains it!
Speicially the plate of coarse gravel …

  10. ShadowSplicer says:

    True Engrish! YES! :D

  11. Sarge says:

Photoshopped! You can see where the “…wich” in “Sandwich” was, because hat part’s not glossy like the rest of the poster is.

    • lexan D says:

      Perhaps.
Looks more to me to be a matter of lighting and the way the banner is hanging. Besides if “..wich” had been there the type alignment, which is perfectly balanced, would have the word running almost to the edge.

    • ShadowSplicer says:

Then why is it centered? Hmmmm? And the gloss doesn’t cover the whole thing, just part of it. It might be the quality of the picture that is making you doubt: the edges between colors is pixelated.

      • lexan D says:

Uh, Shadow, that’s weird…similar thoughts and look at the time posted.

        • lexan D says:

Personally I really don’t know why anyone would bother to do that with Photoshop just so they can get a pic posted here.
While it’s been quite a few years since I’ve worked with it, I do have Photoshop on one of my old Macs, I still remember a thing or two.

        • ShadowSplicer says:

How old are you again? It’s weird that you and I have similar ideas.

          • lexan D says:

Lol, much older, old enough to be your parent and then some.
I think you are pretty bright kid.
It is a bit strange, but that is one of interesting things about cyberspace.

            • JohnB says:

When you get people more than one generation apart, there tends to be more harmony. Grandparents get along so well with their grandchildren because they share a common enemy…

      • Popito says:

Indeed, bad quality. I know bcs I took the pic.
I took it with my cell phone cam, a pretty bad cam if you ask me.

    • kyasarin says:

Actually, “sand” or “sando” isn’t an uncommon thing to see on cookie/biscuit packages in Japan. It’s short for “sandoitchi”, the katakana rendering of “sandwich”. Frankly, I think that makes this dodgy Engrish at best.

    • Popito says:

Not shopped, I took the picture.

    • Giardiniera says:

If you look at the way sand is centered, you can tell it never was sandwich you photoshop nazi!

      • JohnB says:

The two most common types of troll we encounter here on this site are the “this is not Engrish!” ones and the “this is photoshopped” ones, so we see this all the time. Another common type is the “this is not funny, and this site is getting worse and worse all the time!” The somewhat rarer type of troll complains that we are all trailer park idiots who get our jollies laughing at the funny monkey people. We mostly just ignore them, although we wish we could find some way of making them go away.

  12. ploop says:

Toast sand? Powdered Toast Man is intrigued.

  13. D-R says:

Wouldn’t toasted sand turn into glass? :)

    • PoodleGroomer says:

It is just heated enough to evenly distribute the tar balls.

    • lexan D says:

      Now you tell me.
      That explains the sharp taste.

    • JohnB says:

You’d need a pretty powerful toaster to get that to happen! When I was a lad, a friend of mine and I tried to heat sand hot enough to turn it into glass. We couldn’t get a flame hot enough (although I suspect that with the proper use of the blowpipe, something I learned to do a few years later, we probably could have made some small beads of glass.

  14. Crystalzoner says:

*~Warning, Warning! Bad pun Alert!~* Anyone up for a toasted Sandwich? :D

  15. Tito Tostito says:

I was served that by my gal when I woke up hungover on the beach at Hilton head.

  16. Skronk says:

    POWDERED TOAST MAAAAAAAN!!!!

  17. dr handle says:

Can I have a packet of gravel, Mum, er, Dad?
