      • ShadowSplicer says:

WAHHHH! DO NOT CLICK THE LINK! It redirects to a MAJOR SPAM SITE! My grandpa got a virus from it once….I remember having to remove that one: IT TOOK 6 FREEKIN HOURS!!!

        • bluejade says:

This is the nice thing about my Mac. I can back out without a problem.

          • jinxed says:

Back out as in just close your internet browser and forget it never happened? I had something similar where suddenly a bunch of p0rn pop-ups came up and I closed them all quickly, and that computer still works today. I think that SS’s grandfather probably just should have installed firefox to begin with, or something.

            • ShadowSplicer says:

He has Firefox! HE CLICKED ON THE LINK INTENTIONALLY! HE TOLD ME IT LOOKED LIKE A GOOD SITE!!!!!!!!! I keep telling him not to click on ads, but he keeps doing it!! I HAVE TAKEN 9 VIRUSES OUT OF HIS COMPUTER!

            • bluejade says:

Yes, closing the browser or logging out usually does it. There have been a few times over the years I’ve had to turn the power off to the machine and restart.
I log out whenever I walk away because of the cat. Serious. She fried a logic board on my 1st computer.
I did have a ‘fake Firefox” at one point that was a pain.

              • JohnB says:

On PCs, if you shut the system down quickly and when you boot up, go to your most recent system restore point, it usually gets rid of any nasties that got past your anti-virus software. I once picked up some sort of worm that took over Norton (I use McAfee these days) and was using the anti-virus program to root out files that weren’t viruses. When I saw what it was doing, I shut down manually (it refused to do anything I told it to) and then restored on boot-up, and it was fine. One of the things I like about McAfee is that it gives you a warning when you have clicked on a nasty link and suggests you not do that before the click engages. You can still go there if you really want to (which I almost never do, but sometimes), but it helps prevent the careless click, which I suspect all of us do from time to time.

                • ShadowSplicer says:

My grandpa’s computer has Norton, but it does NOTHING to help me remove the viruses. His computer will still get the virus even if we pull the plug IMMEDIATELY!

                • Droll not Troll says:

I think OSX has something like that built into the later versions. I get a “This site may damage your computer” warning, so I close the link. Nothing bad has come from it yet.
I’m interested to know what happens with Windoze on those sites that start “checking your computer for viruses” without being asked. They lock my browser on to the site and I need to force-quit.

        • bluejade says:

Hey, I wonder if this particular post was picked to spam because of the word “wank?”

  11. Hikaru says:

So this is where the porn addicts go to use the internet.
