  1. BabelBabel says:

Sure Iam Babelfish use was on this. Hope I not 5000th person to this mention.

  2. The guy behind you (no, not that one, the OTHER one) says:

So the presence of I found them dangerous? Just who is this “Presence of I” anyway?

    • Droll not Troll says:

Probably a new Dr Who character along the lines of The Face of Boe. The Presence of I will panic and run in circles when Daleks appear.

    • MrOpinion says:

      who’s fondling Perlossi ????

OK let’s try this (and Italian is not my lingo but….)

Attention, bathing not safe (not safe for bathing)
because at the present day we find danger ( as perilous/dangerous [situations] are present/found today )

It is amazing to me that governments and industry seems incapable of finding proper translators — even the average tourist could most likely do better here …
…… try (esp older) Japanese instruction/user manuals for some real fun reading

      • MrOpinion says:

ok – I stand corrected , and it makes sense ‘fondali’ is seabed – or possibly any ‘foundation’ – ‘flooring’ so it is actually very specific as to the dangers ……….
” so the best translation would probably have been
“Attention, bathing not suggested do to dangers from unstablel sea floor”

  3. Madness says:

This sign could be my Engrish grandmother: she found swimming to be dangerous, therefore no one should ever swim again.

  4. altejeremias says:

    Attention!
Not sure bathing for the presence of
    “I Found Them Dangerous”
(y’know, the new TV sitcom on Sicilian FOX)
maybe the cast is not sure about bathing here.

  5. Kitsune says:

    It basically says:

    Attention
Unsafe seaside area because of dangerous seabed.

    • Kame09 says:

Are you sure? Because the sign’s not.

      • PsychoDad says:

Right. Babelfish just translates ‘fondali’ as ‘i found them’. Elsewhere (Hint: wiktionary) it is teranslatable as the plural of ‘seabed..’

        Attenzione:

        Noun
        fondale m (plural fondali)
bottom (of the sea, or a lake)
        backdrop (in a theatre)

Given the context, I assume the maritime use is meant; I’m guessing the word is related to English ‘foundation’.

  6. PoodleGroomer says:

Google translate gave me dangerous waters or hazardous seabed. It doesn’t specify if it is rough tides, trash floating in, or someone pooped in the ocean.
The lifeguards are all watching the nude bather that was whited out on the left of the sign. You’re on your own son.

  7. la conejita says:

Oh, I forgot to mention that I have dangerous curves.

  8. GB says:

That’s surely poor machine translation. In Italian, “fondali” can mean two things, depending on the stress position. Fon-’da-li means “sea beds”, while ‘fon-da-li means “found them” (imperative of the verb “to found”).

  9. dr handle says:

I undress myself and prohibit it. Because I’m unsure whether I found it dangerous.

  10. Twist'n Shout says:

I bet a turk translated that to engrish

  11. Anna Rexia says:

Oh. I read “REALMONTE” wrong and thought this was a nude beach.

  12. Raysire says:

…In Italy, awfully, that’s not the only ENGRISH sign you’ll find. Or else, it’s probably one of the best translated ones. Gonna take some pictures here in Florence where I live and upload them. You’ll find out that we have many good ideas….but no ways to put them in words :)

    Often ashamed of being italian.

    • bluejade says:

Don’t be ashamed of being a member of one of the finest cultures in the world!

      • GB says:

Yes, I mean, we mightn’t fare very well nationwide as far as foreign languages are concerned, but there’s a lot to love in being italians!

        • Droll not Troll says:

I haven’t been there but I like quite a lot of things that have come out of Italy. Some Italians have real style!

  13. Mike says:

Reminds me of when I was waiting for a connecting flight in Reggio and this came up on the announcment screen

Aircraft Rotation. Await from other flight

Three years down the line and I still have no idea what they were trying to say

  14. Paesan says:

it should most literally translate to something like “attention: bathing not secure due to dangerous (perilous) seabed.”

  15. Randomz says:

Fondale = bottom of a sea/lake (Fondali is plural)

But it also mean (with another accent): Let’s found them (found as in “founded” and not “find”

  16. Clara says:

Always ashamed of how bad italians are in talking languages… but we try :) )))
