SALE
Going out for business
everything sales are final
Submitted by: dunno source via Engrish Funny Submissions
Are they looking for fancycrap?
“Quick! Let’s have a sale while the boss is out for business!”
I see these signs all the time locally, and it really chaps my butt.
They deceive the consumer by print size: GOING OUT for BUSINESS.
Of course all shops are going out FOR business. Trying to get more feet in the door by pretending to go out OF business…that’s deceptive.
Mind if i put you in my madlib?
Happens all the time. I used to work at a newspaper and a local businessman tried to put a “Going out for business” ad in the paper. I took the ad, and my boss noticed it said “FOR” instead of “OF” and called him to ask if he was quitting business. When the answer was no, he wouldn’t run the ad.
It took me 3 days to read your comment….and what does “it really chaps my butt” mean?!
D@mn, you read slowly!
Still, you kept at it! You make me proud.
This isn’t Engrish, this is a deceptive English sign. It’s illegal to have a ‘going out OF business’ sale unless you’re going out of business. But you can go out FOR business at any time. People think they will get better deals at a going out of business sale, this teaches to read the fine print.
But I want to buy everthing! Does this mean my sales won’t really be final?
Sir, if you want to buy everything, then this means you will be the new store owner. Then you can have your own going out for business sale.
Well, I don’t have time to be a store owner, so I’d have to return everything! But I’m not sure I can…
Read the sign. ‘Everything’ sales are final.
Doesn’t matter. I already passed the final!
Good job. Mind if I buy it from you?
You’d pay money for used paper? I think there’s an item for you a few notches up the page.
*ahem* I’d pay money for *ahem* answers.
42. That is the answer. Pay up. NOW.
A penny for YOUR thoughts. *gives SS a penny*
kthanxbai!
How much would he pay for the question?
Above poster is right. These “going out FOR business” signs are very common at, say, beachwear stores at vacation spots (Myrtle Beach, etc), especially during the off-season. Tourists are especially gullible since they won’t stick around long enough to realize the store isn’t actually closing.
We had a semi legitimate going out of business store. It would move the unsold remains out of closed stores to its store so the new owner could clean up and refit the closed store. They were closed when they were caught buying merchandise to fill in missing sizes and knockoffs.
Soooo… Where can I find a going out WITH business sale?
In the social pages of the paper, presumably, if business is a member of the glitterati and the papparazi take an interest in his/her social life.
Or perhaps he could find it in the phone book under “Escort Services”.
No, that would be PUTTING out for business.
“Everything sales are final.”
Yes, if we somehow convince you to buy everything, that sale is absolutely final!
I think it wouldn’t be returnable anyways, but who knows.
Everything is, of course, returnable everywhere.
Excellent point, AGF. Thanks for putting that in perspective.
Nah, I don’t think I could eat a whole business – can you just get me a franchise? With extra cheese, and weird sauce. And a cup of Mike to go with it.
So come back for the pre-fire sale and the insurance will take care of the rest.
HA HA HA HA
This is actually a FAIL Blog picture instead of an Engrish picture.
Nah, it’s Engrish. “Everything Sales are final”? Does that sound like a fail to you or more botched Engrish?
Fail blog because of the going out FOR business part
It sounds like a grammar FAIL. Which means……..IT IS ENGRISH, YOU TROLL!
Grammar fail isn’t Engrish unless it is in a foreign country, which I am sure this store is, but bad grammar alone doesn’t make it Engrish.
If bad grammer doesn’t count as Engrish, what does? Or is bad grammer so common now that we have to regard it as valid English?
Bed gremmar dat make de lols eez Engreesh. Doze naut mattair vad cauntry eez frome.
New avatar! Woop Woop! Why go out for business when you are at business?
Obviously, there’s business and then there’s BUSINESS.
Everything sales are FINAL !
Oh goodness, this is at the plaza near my house. Horrible store.
That’s great! I’ve been looking for a horrible gift for someone I really detest. Where is this store?
In the Riverside – CA
Gad! I used to live there. Is it in the Riverside Plaza?
Yep!
Saw the sign when I came out of Citrus City Grille… Laughed my booty off because I was like “who Engrished?!” I didn’t know it was a common sales ploy. Oops!
Boss Run Away! Going out for Business
Alien sales are final?
I guess aliens would fall under the “everything” category… and they didn’t have any disclaimers like “except aliens”…
Is that why the boss ran away?
Well, if we’re talkin’ aliens, abducted sounds more like it…..
But the sign said he ran away!
