I mean when Chevy was making the Nova and it turned out to be an awful name for the Spanish-speaking world, since it meant “doesn’t go,” I found that hilarious. If “Nova” had been just a made-up word, that would have made it less funny, because any time you make up a name you have to be aware of its possible meanings in different languages and even how it sounds. But you pick a perfectly innocent English word, one with even some panache (of course, I’m not sure it’s ever really a good idea to name a car after something that is massively exploding, but hey, I’m not in advertising), and it turns out to mean something negative in an important world language, that’s really funny!
