And the acting was superb. It centers around the interaction between a relatively young and inexperienced, but very sharp and determined, FBI profiler and an incarcerated stone cold psychopath who is perhaps the most dangerous man on Earth. The book is also superb.

I once attended a workshop on the psychopathic mind, and the lecturer, an internationally known expert in the field, recommended the book as the best exposition of the psychopathic mind available. I did read it, and it was more chilling than the movie. Of course, I’ve seen such utterly warped and conscience-less persons up close, so it was probably more frightening for me than most, who can see it as a work of fiction.
