Richard Scarry has a whole series of books featuring the two characters, Pig Will and Pig Won’t. So, the Title is actually not so much of a Fail, as Pig Won’t pretty much exists to be naughty…the “Goofus” to Pig Will’s “Gallant,” if you will.

Yep. My son loves Richard Scarry books, so we picked this one up as soon as we saw it. Definitely not Engrish, definitely not a fail.

I agree. As soon as I read this posting, I remembered my childhood. My sister used to watch the Richard Scarry cartoon when she was little.
My sister also watched it, though I found Lowly the worm disturbing and really wanted to change the channel.

It’s technically not Engrish. Pig Won’t is the character’s name – his counterpart is Pig Will.
The pig won’t naughty because I have toilet trained it and put a pet flap on the door.
The neighbor is complaining and digging a luau pit for Thanksgiving.

Weirdly I just saw the book this past weekend at Target and thought the title was weird too – but I actually took a second to flip through the book and realized that “Pig Won’t” is just his name. tsk tsk

Surely you realize by now that I am not a total idiot, and of course I know what a “tossed salad” is. However, I, like most people here, like to play with language by using alternate meanings for words. When Meowth asked if the pig “tossed his salad,” I am sure he had either throwing it out or throwing it across the room in mind, and I followed his lead. So you may see lots of feigned ignorance or deliberate misinterpretation in my posts, as is true of almost everyone here. It’s for the LOLZ. If I genuinely am perplexed about something, I will wait for someone to clarify or ask a serious question.

But either way is funny, so I don’t mind.

Dude, this is not an Engrish fail. It’s the character’s name. Richard Scary has two character’s named Pig Will and Pig Won’t. Is it just that I’m so old I actually remember this?
And apparently so old that reading the posts before yours is too much work, what with your trifocals and presbyopia.
I’m not very old at all and can still hear them saying,”I will! I will!” and “I won’t.” when asked to help in some way.

Pig Won’t REALLY IS a character in the Richard Scarry Books he has a twin named Pig Will, so its not so much engrish as it is just a stupid title. its like trying to say ” Isn’t Joe Naughty?” but instead of Joe the pigs name is Pig Wont.

I made a snide remark about his not reading the previous posts where the same thing was said more than once. He, at least, had the defense that the other posts saying the same thing were quite a bit up the page. Right now your comment and his appear on my screen together. I saw this at Waldenbooks last Thursday and if I’d had my camera I would have taken a picture. Glad someone else caught it. There was another one, perhaps a lesser fail; the UPC tag reads: Asst. Disney Hurts.
(There was also a pretty gross picture in this little kid penguin book. The page was “Penguins pooping” and showed an actual picture of a penguin’s bum, um, pooping. Apparently this was the best rhyme; sorry I forgot the other word. *shrug* While I could understand it for a fact book on penguins, when we’re talking about a book designed for very young children… it’s probably not appropriate.)

NEWS FLASH!!! AFTER FIVE DAYS SOMEONE FINALLY NOTICED THAT “PIG WON’T” IS ACTUALLY THE NAME OF THE CHARACTER IN THE BOOK! All you other people who made the same comment, including those starting five days ago, just pretended to notice.

I think his name is actually “Pig Won’t.” His brother’s name is “Pig Will.”
Actually,theres a kids TV show,with 2 characters named “Pig Will” and “Pig Wont”who are brothers. The picture could refer to that.

This isn’t an error. The book is named “Isn’t Pig Won’t Naughty” and is a very popular children’s book by Richard Scarry. The main character is Pig Won’t and it’s about him and his brother Pig Will and how Pig Will is good, while Pig Won’t is Naughty. I don’t see a language error here.
