Richard Scarry has a whole series of books featuring the two characters, Pig Will and Pig Won’t. So, the Title is actually not so much of a Fail, as Pig Won’t pretty much exists to be naughty…the “Goofus” to Pig Will’s “Gallant,” if you will.
/knows too much about kids’ books and needs to get out more
The pig won’t naughty because I have toilet trained it and put a pet flap on the door.
The neighbor is complaining and digging a luau pit for Thanksgiving.
Weirdly I just saw the book this past weekend at Target and thought the title was weird too – but I actually took a second to flip through the book and realized that “Pig Won’t” is just his name. tsk tsk
Dear, dear Shadow Splicer,
Surely you realize by now that I am not a total idiot, and of course I know what a “tossed salad” is. However, I, like most people here, like to play with language by using alternate meanings for words. When Meowth asked if the pig “tossed his salad,” I am sure he had either throwing it out or throwing it across the room in mind, and I followed his lead. So you may see lots of feigned ignorance or deliberate misinterpretation in my posts, as is true of almost everyone here. It’s for the LOLZ. If I genuinely am perplexed about something, I will wait for someone to clarify or ask a serious question.
SS mentioned salad earlier and I considered jumping his case, then realized that’s not what he had in mind.
Meowth, you’re spending entirely too much time on the internet!
Dude, this is not an Engrish fail. It’s the character’s name. Richard Scary has two character’s named Pig Will and Pig Won’t. Is it just that I’m so old I actually remember this?
Pig Won’t REALLY IS a character in the Richard Scarry Books he has a twin named Pig Will, so its not so much engrish as it is just a stupid title. its like trying to say ” Isn’t Joe Naughty?” but instead of Joe the pigs name is Pig Wont.
Really? Well, you know, there is a post only three places up from yours, at this time, that says the same thing. I made a snide remark about his not reading the previous posts where the same thing was said more than once. He, at least, had the defense that the other posts saying the same thing were quite a bit up the page. Right now your comment and his appear on my screen together. In other words, dude, TRY SOME READING! IT’S FUN AND EDUCATIONAL!!!
I saw this at Waldenbooks last Thursday and if I’d had my camera I would have taken a picture. Glad someone else caught it. There was another one, perhaps a lesser fail; the UPC tag reads: Asst. Disney Hurts.
(There was also a pretty gross picture in this little kid penguin book. The page was “Penguins pooping” and showed an actual picture of a penguin’s bum, um, pooping. Apparently this was the best rhyme; sorry I forgot the other word. *shrug* While I could understand it for a fact book on penguins, when we’re talking about a book designed for very young children… it’s probably not appropriate.)
NEWS FLASH!!! AFTER FIVE DAYS SOMEONE FINALLY NOTICED THAT “PIG WON’T” IS ACTUALLY THE NAME OF THE CHARACTER IN THE BOOK! All you other people who made the same comment, including those starting five days ago, just pretended to notice.
This isn’t an error. The book is named “Isn’t Pig Won’t Naughty” and is a very popular children’s book by Richard Scarry. The main character is Pig Won’t and it’s about him and his brother Pig Will and how Pig Will is good, while Pig Won’t is Naughty. I don’t see a language error here.
Gloly!
Any pig that won’t naughty is not naughty in my book.
Does that make me a pig?
I can’t remember. Are you in my book?
*Takes book, writes name in it*
.
.
.
.
…..yes.
*erases* You were apparently just penciled in.
*Gets permanent marker, re-writes name in the book*
.
.
.
…..I LIVE AGAIN!!!
*sets fire to book* ONLY TO DIE YET AGAIN!!!
HAHAHA! I AM MULTIPLES!!! I HAD SOME OF THE MULTIPLY FUNCTION POT CATNIP TEA!!! YOU WILL HAVE TO KILL ME ALL!!!
I KNOW WHAT WILL PUT YOU IN YOUR PLACE!!!!
*Brings out the Super Power Exploiter and crushes clones*
HOW DID YOU LIKE MY CHARIOT!?
can i borrow this super power exploiter?
The pig is naughty because of all the Swine Flu outbreaks.
Swinish.
ds nfsdfsaldkfslk!!!
Would you care for some salad?

/knows too much about kids’ books and needs to get out more
Actually, Pig Will sounds like the naughty one to me!
Aha, I must have posted just after you did, so didn’t see your post – sorry about that!
Also, no such thing as knowing too much about kids’ books!
It’s only fair, since kids these days know too much about adult stuff anyway.
Is it bad to admit that I still love Joan Aitken books, and Susan Cooper’s “The Dark Is Rising” series is one of my favourites?
And people wonder why Johnny won’t parse.
Yep. My son loves Richard Scarry books, so we picked this one up as soon as we saw it. Definitely not Engrish, definitely not a fail.
So they’re twin brothers who both joined the police force?
I agree. As soon as I read this posting, I remembered my childhood. My sister used to watch the Richard Scarry cartoon when she was little.
My sister also watched it, though I found Lowly the worm disturbing and really wanted to change the channel.
Glad you said it first *is surrounded by kids yelling for apple juice*
Thank you! I came on to say this.
I am glad someone else caught that non-Engrish pick. If anything, this should’ve been on OUAW. I pretty much had a nostalgia attack when I saw it.
It’s technically not Engrish. Pig Won’t is the character’s name – his counterpart is Pig Will.
The pig won’t naughty because I have toilet trained it and put a pet flap on the door.
The neighbor is complaining and digging a luau pit for Thanksgiving.
They could save it for Yuletide and have a Don Ho Ho Ho Christmas!
And have bigger drumsticks.
Didn’t he die recently?
Yes, in 2007 I believe, but of course his music will live forever. (I’m smirking a bit as I say this, since while I am old, I’m not THAT old!)
I only know this because my father was upset that he didn’t see him when he had the chance(yeah, sadly, I’m that young).
Don’t be sad, things will change!
Yeah, before you know it you’ll be old, and Don Ho will have come back to life.
Oh no, Don Ho!
Was it a car or a cat I saw?
Senile felines!
There goes Jeffrey Dahmer with a festive Christmas ham,
After he has sex with it, he’ll eat up all he can…
This is scarrying me.
Poor Richard. He’s all manic.
I told and told him…early to bed, early to….
but he just won’t. He’s being a little d**k.
He really can’t help it when he’s manic, because he runs days at a time without sleep.
Well, a penny saved is a penny earned!
If I’d Ben Franklin with you, I would have mentioned that I’m surprised that it took me this long to get the joke!
I knew it was a little more subtle than my usual outrageous, dreadful puns.
Yeah, it took me a few minutes to turn “manic” into “minac.”
Of course, those around who are averse to history will never get it.
Have them play Pepper’s Adventures in Time. It makes history fun! I think it is now abandonware, though…
Submitter fail!!
Weirdly I just saw the book this past weekend at Target and thought the title was weird too – but I actually took a second to flip through the book and realized that “Pig Won’t” is just his name. tsk tsk
Yeah, shame on ReneeE for inducing us to have all this fun under false pretenses! Now I have to try to unlaugh…
ahahahahah?
Maybe if Isn’t Pig won’t naughty, Is Pig will naughty for him!
Isn’t Pig is a vegetarian! He doesn’t like bacon, he likes tossed salad!
Did Is Pig toss his salad?
And started a big food fight!
You do know what ‘tossed salad’ is right? Not a food or a food fight…..
Toss your salad at me, and you can consider us officially in a food fight!
Although I did think salad was classed as a food, if only marginally…
Uh…..just Google it…….you will find out what….it means…….
Dear, dear Shadow Splicer,

Actually, I was thinking of the other definition…
But either way is funny, so I don’t mind.
Actually, that was the first one I thought of myself, but I didn’t have any clever vomit-related retorts at that moment.
I think I was thinking of a third definition, then… Vomit was the furthest thing from my intentions…
Except for bulimics, vomiting is usually far from people’s intentions.
Or the poison control center…
SS mentioned salad earlier and I considered jumping his case, then realized that’s not what he had in mind.
Meowth, you’re spending entirely too much time on the internet!
He’s been cruising on the Titan Uranus.
No such thing as too much time on the Internet!
Looking back on it, SS did mean that. SS, you really don’t need to go there… kids these days!!!
Yeah, let’s keep it fun and clean.
Tell that to Is Pig!
*DELETE FRIGGATE!!!!*
Dude, this is not an Engrish fail. It’s the character’s name. Richard Scary has two character’s named Pig Will and Pig Won’t. Is it just that I’m so old I actually remember this?
And apparently so old that reading the posts before yours is too much work, what with your trifocals and presbyopia.
I’m not very old at all and can still hear them saying,”I will! I will!” and “I won’t.” when asked to help in some way.
And written by Richard Scarry… go figure
Pig Won’t REALLY IS a character in the Richard Scarry Books he has a twin named Pig Will, so its not so much engrish as it is just a stupid title. its like trying to say ” Isn’t Joe Naughty?” but instead of Joe the pigs name is Pig Wont.

Let’s see if this Pig Will or this Pig Wont.
Is Pig or Isn’t Pig?
I saw this at Waldenbooks last Thursday and if I’d had my camera I would have taken a picture. Glad someone else caught it. There was another one, perhaps a lesser fail; the UPC tag reads: Asst. Disney Hurts.

Why not? Everybody poops!
Hahha! I love that book!
Most children do.
I mean I was babysitting a kid that had that book at his house.
They trust you around children?
I toddler-sit about twice a week.
Wow, I’m impressed!
Poor poor children… Let’s hope you’re not too large.
Pig Won’t is actually the character’s name…
NEWS FLASH!!! AFTER FIVE DAYS SOMEONE FINALLY NOTICED THAT “PIG WON’T” IS ACTUALLY THE NAME OF THE CHARACTER IN THE BOOK! All you other people who made the same comment, including those starting five days ago, just pretended to notice.
you fail. HARD.
I think his name is actually “Pig Won’t.” His brother’s name is “Pig Will.”
Actually, theres a kids TV show, with 2 characters named “Pig Will” and “Pig Wont”who are brothers. The picture could refer to that.
I saw what you did there; you have been judged, and the sentence is imprisonment for the duration of your death!
Took a min to remember but “Pig Won’t” is a character’s name, along with “Pig Will.” Haven’t seen those books in years!
by Robert SCARRY
