Chaco Culture National Historical Park is a United States National Historical Park hosting the densest and most exceptional concentration of pueblos in the American Southwest. The Park is located in the arid and inhospitable Four Corners region of New Mexico, in a remote canyon cut by the Chaco Wash. Between AD 900 and 1150, Chaco Canyon was a major center of culture for the Ancient Pueblo Peoples. Chacoans quarried sandstone blocks and hauled timber from great distances, assembling 15 major complexes which remained the largest buildings in North America until the 19th century. Evidence of archaeoastronomy at Chaco has been proposed, with the Sun Dagger petroglyph at Fajada Butte a popular example. Many Chacoan buildings may have been aligned to capture the solar and lunar cycles, requiring generations of astronomical observations and centuries of skillfully coordinated construction. Climate change is thought to have led to the emigration of Chacoans and the eventual abandonment of the canyon, beginning with a 50-year drought in 1130. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is considered sacred ancestral homelands by the Hopi and Pueblo people, who maintain oral accounts of their historical migration from Chaco and their spiritual relationship to the land

I will freely admit to being an old relic, but there are SO many surprises in store for anyone who ages that I honestly don’t know which one bluejade might have been talking about. Seems like there’s a new one every day! It’s kind of the reverse of when you have a toddler, watching them acquire some new word or skill every day. It’s like, “Well, I knew the answer to that yesterday,” and, “My finger was never THAT shape before!”
I think Bluejade was referring to a sexual surprise, but I’ll let her clarify.

I can’t remember… I think it was something about whether or not old people want to be scored on. They do. Old people are just like everybody else, only older. Middle-aged women become invisible, which is ok sometimes, but not all the time.
Oh, and sex gets better, by the way. Which is kind of ironic.
I can assure you that middle-age women are far more visible to me now than they were when I was young!

Thinking and looks can vary greatly from person to person, but the physical decline is unavoidable.

I am being a bit sarcastic.
I have fewer years ahead of me than those that are behind me.
But there’s not much choice in that matter and it sure beats the alternative.
Here’s one they never warned you about at school: chin bristles. The damned things can grow six inches overnight, so even if you think you plucked them the night before, there they are in the morning, bigger and badder and bristlier than before. You cannot get rid of them. Don’t try to get electrolysis, you’ll just annoy them.

Yes, one loses hair in odd places (such as my legs, which used to be so hairy I was nearly simian in appearance, but now have almost no discernible hair at all) but grows it in very strange places (e.g., I once found a hair fully three inches long that had grown out of the edge of the back of my ear). But there are such things as wisdom and maturity, and if you can keep learning and growing as you age you may well acquire these things, which are invaluable.

I have been searching for wisdom most of my life. or at least during the adult part.
During some hokey “values clarification” exercise I had to participate in for my job some time back, I turned out to be the only one who put “wisdom” at the top of the list. My coworkers were all rather surprised. I was rather surprised no one else valued it as much as I did.

The handicapped and old are most likely another exhibit. Like animals they crap themselves, no one can understand them, and are fun to both laught at and stare.

I don’t think any of those guys really suffered. It was mostly faked. The big guy couldn’t have survived the “Hitted Hip” part- his arse isn’t HUGE.

Didn’t like the “hitted hip.” Watching Hoost get held down to have nose hairs snatched and eyes tear up was amazing because he is an extraordinary kick-boxer, very, very aggressive even for the sport.
