Hotel Dunes Beach Resort
It cremates of greenness

Seen in the dining hall of a hotel in Venezuela.
This sounds like a resort I can get behind!
As far behind as possible! Any luxury Hotel that cremates has me very worried.
“Es äschert von unreife ein.” …hmmm. sounds like a warning sign caused by stupid kids playing with fire….
The German is even funnier: “It incinerates of immaturity.”
… insert children into furnace?
Is it just me, or is that phrase less funny, knowing it was rendered in German?
Now that you point it out, it is less funny…
I dunno, some things are just so dreadful, that all you can do is laugh. I doubt that there was any lingering antisemitism in this – it’s just language translation gone utterly haywire that’s resulted in a phrase that’s so ludicrous that it’s funny in any language simply for that. I didn’t quite lol. A groaning titter, perhaps. (I have a Zyklon B cannister on my work desk as a paperweight, so I’m not really in a position to get too high and mighty about This Sort Of Thing.)
Hey now, I’m of German ancestry and never burned any children… at least, not while conscious.
Oh, I was not meaning anything against Germans or those of German ancestry. After all, I live proudly in a country that nearly exterminated the natives and imported other peoples for use as slaves, so I am in no position to judge, either. But the historical association gives it a little creepiness.
“It cremates from unripeness/immaturity” is the correct translation of the German text – which is as nonsensical as the English and “French” text that rather looks like a mixture of French and Italian.
Yeah French is nonsensical too: “He incinerates of the color …something almost spelled like green (vert) but with an extra “i” for some reason. In Italian green is “verde” so it’s still not that.
:/
Why am I given the impression that these phrases were entered consecutively into babelfish?
A shame they didn’t give us the full circle result – it tends to only get funnier.
Yup, same here!
Those leprechauns working at babelfish sure have a good time mistranslating everything. Crema (cream soup) was mistranslated as cremates… and so on!
Damn. As a translator, this makes me want to cry and laugh at the same time. It makes me wanna craugh!
Hey, now. We don’t want you craughing yourself here.
If I were in the translation business, I’d think of it as job security! We are obviously not at a point where computers can do your job at all well. But personally I think Babelfish is one of the funniest inventions EVER! I love translating something, anything, sequentially into several languages and then closing the loop! It’s utterly insane what comes out!!!
Still no need to craugh oneself over it…
some babelfish engines give ‘vegetable cream’ in English. Still not good, but at least the reference to burning is excluded.
das deutsche ist echt geil (the German is genuine horny)
Well, at least the person who translated, translated it wrong into all languages. That’s kinda straight minded.
I just looked at a bunch of pics in what the sign was like 5 times translated right into different languages, but was totally screwed in german -.-’
It cremates of greenness or it gets the hose again.
It’s a dirty job, but someone had to do this line *giggle giggle*
Il incinere de couleur vert – He incinerates the/of colour green.
This isn’t just an Engrish; the French and I think German translations are wrong too!
the german one is complete bs too ^^
I wonder what it should say for real
Yeah the French doesn’t make any sense too
French never does make any sense to me!
french fries!
They don’t make any sense either! Strip all the nutrition out of a potato, soak it in fat and salt, and then eat it. Why not just have surgeons directly implant sclerotic deposits into your arteries?
that’d be Flench and Gelman wouldn’t it?
Plobabry.
I think this sign might be the Rosetta stone of Engrish.
“the Rosetta stone of Engrish” – you made me lol!
It doesn’t even looks like french to me. More like Italian. (And trust me because i am French.)
While I agree it doesn’t sound like french, look at the flags. It was trying – but it even failed at achieving real words!
It’s written, so it doesn’t look like French
point taken. If they read it out loud it wouldn’t sound french either
I think the correct translation is : “Vegetable’s cream” or “pureed vegetables”
ohhhhh cream of greens, made by the creamed greens team, but who were too green to feign creamed greens, it seems. Once the green beans made it to my spleen, I deemed this meme to be beamed to the greater scene.
Peachy keen.
I like the caption of warpedperception.
Don’t walk on the greenness: Cremate it.
Veni. Vidi. Crematici.
Veni vidi visa – I came, I saw, I shopped.
Yeah, but I don’t get bills from things I cremated.
Yes, the French and German were dictionary-translated from the Engrish, with different meanings of “green.” Babelfish has a lot to answer for.
What it actually should have said is “Light the grass, dude.”
hey good detective work.
Also let it be known that “creamed vegetables” in simplified Chinese is, 提取乳脂的菜, which translates back the English roughly as “Extraction butterfat vegetable”
I need teepee for my bunghole !!
Thank you SO much for sharing. Now back to the picture.
It is probably vegetable sauce or vegetable soup. Originally. Before it got mangled.
Well, we finally found out who is responsible for all the deforestation on this planet!
I don’t see how this isn’t photoshop …
That’s a lot of negatives in one sentence, podner.
Yeah, and photoshop doesn’t require negatives.
Are you positive about that?
Or are you just being negative?
I am positive that I am not negative about my positive statement that photoshop positively does not require negatives.
All these positives and negatives… Are you looking to start something?
If I am, what’s the matter? Or should I ask what’s the antimatter?
What’s the matter/antimatter??!!! A huge explosion, that’s what!
Obviously Creamy Vegetable Soup got translated by someone using a free online translating service.
Hurray for lazy people, without them mistakes like these wouldn’t be happening (often)
OMG! i know that hotel!! hahaha i think i’m gonna pay more attention to what it says on those things next time!! i’d always read the description in spanish, at least they do that one right! hahaha
ps. it’s actually a cool hotel, and the food it’s good btw! haha
no, they don’t cremate anything…. i think! haha
the german is as stupid as the english text
I disagree.
I know a little German.
He is sitting over there.
He might be short, but not stupid.
:p
Oh, its just that people here loves web translators… really…
SOLO EN VENEZUELA HERMANOS…SOLO EN VENEZUELA
You mean, only in Venezuela you cremate the greenies?
Can we send you these greenpeace nutties over there?
Lol, the german one.
Even the German translation makes absolutely no sense at all…
Only the spanish(Venezuela) one make sense.
Suppose to be:
“Vegetable cream”
“Crème de légumes” for french.
Even the German line is totally wrong… xD
The German’s line says like: “It ashes from immature inside” xD
I came for a hotel not a bunch of dunes!
I have some knowledge of spanish, and even if I translate it, it comes out as “cream of greens” So still doesn’t really make much sense.
The translation from english to french is good but it doesn’t make any sens.
