Sorry in Spanish is a little different, the correct form is “Asociación Nacional de Baloncesto”. Baloncesto is the Spain-Spanish word and basquetbol is the American-Spanish word.

I am pretty sure they did not mess up. Rather, they intentionally mess it up due to branding, copyright, and legal issues about selling brand names.

You can find plenty of these things mimicking branded items in Chinatown SF/NY/DC/etc. Some imitations are very like the real thing you can’t really tell the difference.

I took this picture. It was in China. Hainan Island specifically. At a hostel I stayed at. It just combined nike and NBA I am pretty sure, and it just messed them both up badly.

I often interject after people say common things… Like “Put it on the table” and reply with VERY CLEVER sayings as “YOU’RE a table”. I don’t know where I got this from, or why I find it funny.

When I talk to people about learning disabilities, I state that each of us has some sort of learning disability, in that we learn that particular thing or through that particular modality less well than others. The example I like to cite is that I am terrible with sequential directions, first turn here, then turn here, etc. But I am great with maps. So give me detailed directions, and if I remember to bring them I might be able to find it. But draw me a map, and if I really looked at it I could probably leave it home and still arrive without trouble (and in fact I’ve done this several times.) My wife is the opposite. She can remember sequences, but is utterly useless with a map. And of course there have been many intelligent, creative, and successful people who have been known to have had learning disabilities. Jimi Hendrix remains my all-time favorite musician, and even while improvising he never seemed to hit a wrong note on the guitar. But he was known to mess up lyrics fairly often. Of course, I’m sure the massive quantities of LSD he took before and during concerts (he’d soak his headband in LSD, and he would absorb it through his skin). So really, no offense intended, particularly since I was really just joking. Anybody can misperceive something.

Yeah, there was a whole list of these interesting anagrams circulating on the net a year or so ago. The only one I remember offhand is dormitory = dirty room. Of course, I’ve often heard people comment that “dog” is an anagram for “God,” apparently in the hopes that people would treat dogs with more respect. I have always suspected that it has the net effect of getting God less respect…
