I bet McDonalds is suing them for all they’re worth. Which, judging by the general appearance of the physical plant, is probably about the cost of a Happy Meal.
FYI–As a wise man once observed, a key concept in Engrish is the culture clash caused by the adoption of English words by cultures much different than those of the West, and the incongruities that then result. This image certainly contains such incongruities, hence it IS Engrish.
The words in themselves are not necessarily the incongruity. The incongruity of this picture, to me, is the words appearing on that building. The play on words is on the name of one of the world’s biggest restaurant (and I use the term loosely) chains and it is placed upon a crude little hut. Therein lies the incongruity.
It often occurs to me that items posted on this site might have been done intentionally in an attempt at humor. If that is the case, I don’t think any crime is committed when I laugh at it. Some people seem to be preoccupied by the question of whether a picture posted is “really” Engrish; I suspect that preoccupation gets in the way of the laughter. My philosophy is laugh first, ask questions later!

Bright and early every morning they wake to the sound of the Hambugler, followed by the buzzing of the Fly Kids.
The house in the background looks quite suspicious.

Too true! I see only one arch, and it’s not golden!
The funny thing is it’s supposed to be Mc Lonald’s Romi House.
I think it would be McLonard’s!
You’re right, my bad.
fyi, cultural humor does not equal to engrish.

if my explanation wasn’t clear to you, let me state it like this: it was a play on words. it does not involve incongruities at all.
The words in themselves are not necessarily the incongruity. The incongruity of this picture, to me, is the words appearing on that building. The play on words is on the name of one of the world’s biggest restaurant (and I use the term loosely) chains and it is placed upon a crude little hut. Therein lies the incongruity.
i suppose that it didn’t occur to you that that was part of the joke?

Amen!
Given that the proprietor is almost certainly Filipino, I think it’s safe to assume that McRonald’s was an intentional play on McDonald’s.
Perhaps Ronald is a rapper. And DJ Lomi’s in da house!
THAT’S NOT TRUE! He had a bath just last February, didn’t you, Brother Buck?
I think it was February… maybe March.
First time I’ve been called “a bundle of sticks or twigs”, or “the ass end of a cigarette…”
Now, back to MC Ronald on da mike!
Over 3 Bir-i-ron Served!
hahaha is so original, like Ricky mouse
I’m rovin’ it.
Wait till you see the clown, Donald McRonald. Sort of like Pennywise.
Also like Poundfoolish.
It’s just like McDonalds, but cleaner.
We can’t see the inside of the hut, but given that it appears to have a dirt floor, I wouldn’t expect too much cleanliness.
At least the spilled liquids are absorbed, instead of being smeared onto everything else, so I would say it’s a bit cleaner.
