Sounds like something I would have come out with after ingesting a seriously excessive quantity and variety of controlled substances. In fact, that might be a direct quote! Perhaps I should sue…
I have no specific recollection of that, but I most certainy saw things in the sky that I can’t even describe, let alone name. Let me make it clear, though, that I am not encouraging anyone to do drugs of any kind. I am lucky to have survived more or less intact and am deeply grateful for my recovery. It is a treacherous path that claims lives each and every day.
…and here’s what we all love about 1986 rock…the top ten songs of that year:
Day by Day – The Hooters
You Give Love A Bad Name – Bon Jovi
Dreams – Van Halen
Shot in the Dark – Ozzy Osbourne
Shake Me – Cinderella
Cry Tough – Poison
No One Is To Blame – Howard Jones
Why Can’t This Be Love – Van Halen
West End Girls – Pet Shop Boys
Your Love – The Outfield
Many of us feel the music we were into in our late teens was the best music ever. Don’t get me wrong, I like plenty of current rock, but I happen to think that 1967-1971 were the years when rock was at its absolute peak. It’s surely not coincidental that those were the same years I was in high school!
Oh, I took you as serious. Yes, I also consider the mid-’80s to be a slack period for rock, which I think emerged energized from the infusion of grunge in the ’90s and has been relatively strong ever since. But The Doors and Jimi Hendrix (my all-time fave!) sell more now than they did when they were live and kicking.
I sometimes think our generation used up most of the good music during the 60s. I notice a lot of it being recycled by today’s “artists”.
*grumble grumble…. kids of today……*
Einstein said time is a dimension. If that’s true, then 1986, as with any other year, is still there, back there in 1986. Each moment is eternal, part of the indestructible four-dimensional fabric of the space-time continuum.
Yet within each moment, and Einstein never expanded upon this, the universe is separated by the dimension of perspective, each of us the center of our own universe in a slice of time, still ever expanding forward and back. After all, the twin brothers paradox has 4 sides. 1: (Einstein’s) The brother in space (seeing the earth moving fast relative to himself) spends a month up there, comes back to find his brother old. 2: The brother on Earth (seeing his Brother fly off fast relative to himself) has his brother return mionutes later, but a month older. 3: The brother on Earth created BY the brother in space who lives out many years, becomes old, and FINALLY sees his brother return from Space, not much older than the day he left, and finally the Brother in space (created BY the Earth one) Who leaves for a month, to find that Mere minutes have passed on Earth the month he’s been gone. And NONE of these 4 twin brothers (yes, 4 TWINS) enjoyed 86 rock.
NOBODY expects a Bill Frist supporter! Or main weapon is t-shirts and badges. Two weapons, our two chief weapons are t-shirts and badges and Engrish slogans. Three. Among our weapons, we have t-shirts, badges and Engrish slogans…
FIRST !
Honestly, can’t you read. It’s Frist. F-R-I-S-T. Nice try though.
Yeah seriously. I’d go so far as to say that if the first comment was “FRIST!” it would have been permissible.
I love it when you make no with me.
But when you make no AND with me, it makes me think I’m just an afterthought…
WHAT is this supposed to mean?
I saw so many Engrish T-shirts the other day at the market, but they all made more sense than this.
Bit more complicated than the ones in my day. What happened to “Frankie Say Rerax” or “Choose Rife”?
Sounds like something I would have come out with after ingesting a seriously excessive quantity and variety of controlled substances. In fact, that might be a direct quote! Perhaps I should sue…
Did you see sky angels?

I think we’re all grateful for your recovery.
Amen, amen. JohnB makes me laugh like only you and dr. Handle can.
Daily Earworm: Beetles “Hello Goodbye”
or the Beatles.
Just be
“let it be, let it be, let it be oh let it be! There will be an answer, let it be!”
Or, Let it be, oh let it be. Make no and with me, let it be.
You say yes (I say “yes”) I say no (but I may mean no.)
You say stop (I can stay) and I say go go go (till it’s time to go ),
oh no.

I was being kinda sarcastic
Never liked “rawk” from the mid-eighties (I was a sixth grader in 1986)…have always liked the classic rock of the 70′s though!

I like a lot of the music from those years, but my all-time favorite rock band would be Bon Jovi.
And to you, sir, “I say: Have a nice day! Have a nice day-ay-ay!”
So is there a random text generator for t-shirts out there?Cuz there are plenty of t-shirts that make no sence whatsoever.
Do they have any “Choose Death” T-shirt?
They do, but they keep losing customers.
Best reply ever JohnB.
there is no return to 1986

But then they reverse the process, and 86 rock becomes 68 rock, and it’s all good!
I still don’t understand, can we try with twin sisters ? or just a pair of shoes ?
Time is an illusion, lunchtime doubly so.
If I get too busy at work, it’s lunchtime I’m a-losin’.
Like, omygawd, you totally don’t want to do that!
Okay.
Kids – just be make no to drugs.
And don’t take any, either!
Just say nope.
To drugs, as well.
First – I so completely need this shirt.
Second – Was this shirt made by fans of Bill Frist?
Dang. Should read headline first before making comment re Frist.
Sorry. I actually didn’t even see it, the shirt was so awesome.
I was in high school in 1986 (albeit a frosh) and I’m here to tell you that the music that was possible that year sucked major stone.
I’ve always been a big fan of impossible music, but impossible music just wasn’t possible in 1986.
oi veh… I meant *popular*… or “Popural” lolz
Pop Ural is an old guy from the mountains in Russia.
hey i <3 86 rock too!

Time for the comfy chair!
i love the button that says FRIST so much – i think i shall make one of my very own. FRIST FTW
Uhhhh, was the creator stoned?
Yes, I believe that in the beginning, God meant to say, “Let ne’er be thight.”
