Look… A lot of people have NEVER seen signs like this, aren’t aware of the ploy and think it’s truly an Engrish. I posted another one, thinking mine was the only one like it, and laughed hysterically when I saw the sign in person because the store was relatively empty like they were going out of business, and I laughed at the tardo who printed such a horrible sign – “Going Out For Business – Everything sales are final.” So, I understand someone else posting a picture of a similar sign, because we “dingbats” hadn’t ever seen anything like that before… But, thanks for calling us dingbats.

Who’s the dingbat that posted this picture!? If you have ever been to myrtle beach you would know that people put of those signs so that people think they are going out of business so people will go buy stuff thinking it’s real cheap there are about a million of them at beach stores at the time most of them have real a tiny “for” and all other words are HUGE to get your attention and this comment is getting way too long wow look at that run on sentence I’m repeating this out loud to make sure it makes sense and oh my God I can’t breath I should probably take a breath now but I’m so blond I forgot how o noes what am I going to– *INHALES!!!*…….. *breaths deeply for ten minutes*………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. what was I doing again?

Holy crap! Was this taken in Toronto!? I swear, this place is right by my house and a couple months ago I walked by and I was like “dammit! I wish I had a camera so I could put that on Engrish!”

Interestingly…..the sign is now gone…..and they don’t seem to have closed or…as they say “gone out for business.”

LOL-When I worked at DEB Shops, Inc., we had signs like these. They all said “Going Out for Business!!!!!!” The Going, Out, And Business were in large red captial letters, while the “for” was in itty bitty print.
It’s a sales tactic that is used to bring in business.
Granted, this one may be an engrish funny…but they do this all the time all over the USA.

This is actually “proper” English – though “shady”

In many areas, it is illegal to have a “Going Out Of Business” sale, without a license that states that the business will, in fact, be closing.

Since many people believe they will get unusually low prices from a store that is going out of business, the “Going Out For Business” is a common ruse to lure those who are not careful readers into the store.

BTW, in modern retail business, even real “Going Out Of Business” sales are to be avoided. Nowadays, the merchandise on the shelves is sold to a third party, with expertise in selling it to gullible buyers at prices well ABOVE retail!

It’s a ploy that some businesses use to bring in more customers…they don’t read the sign well and think they’re getting a deal cuz it’s a ‘going out OF business’ sale…they don’t notice the difference in that one little word…
