Never mind the kids! I once had to share a seat on a 4-hour ride with an old woman [operational definition: older than me!] who would not shut up for a second! I honestly think if we’d crashed into the sea she’d have been jabbering all the way to the bottom.

What we really need is an international convention where an unruly child on a long haul flight is first stapled to its parent, then both of them are stuffed into the luggage hold or some equally separate compartment where they can annoy the hell out of each other rather than the rest of the passengers.

As an American who likes my flights quiet enough to sleep on, I second that usage of this product. To be fair, though in my experience … the loudest, most obnoxious, most likely to be voted off of the plane whilst airborne by the rest of the passengers passenger was an Irish child. His mother needed this, and then lessons in effective parenting.
