Because Google and other search software can’t read photos, but they can read text. So if the site owners didn’t asterisk out the ‘naughty’ words, every pr0n-searching bot out there would be picking up these links. Plus the fact that anyone who using parental controls or safe searching would be blocked from this site if the ‘naughty’ words weren’t masked.

they didnt write men ass instead of mentos. the sign is mentos assorted fruit stick. see in the photo? says mentos and in a lil font next to it assorted.
Ali is correct, this is probably how it shows up on the stores database. I work in a store and when items go through the till they have shortened names, It seems strange to type it like this for the offer but maybe they were just busy or absent-mindedly doing it.

There is a good chance the text originated and was printed somewhere non-English speaking and slipped by Quality Control. But I still don’t want any ass fruit sticks, even if the third one is free.

It’s Engrish because asians tend to abbreviate foreign words in an indiscriminate fashion. Mentos is commonly abbreviated to “Men”, and “assorted” is commonly abbreviated to “ass”. It’s common practice for them, it’s obvious this comes from some asian store.
Hm… only the Japanese abbreviate words, and that’s only words that are phrases, like American Football (Amefuto). This is NOT Engrish; the “Men Ass” is probably how it is listed in the computer’s inventory of the store. I worked retail and we do get really obscure abbreviations
