I think I’ve seen this sign – it’s in Shanghai’s Yuyuan Garden area.

The full second line is “Dumpling stuffed with the ovary and digestive glands of a crad”. Apparently crab uterus and gastrointestinal tract is a delicacy, because I saw similar signs all over Shanghai.

Maybe the translator confused ova (eggs) and ovary (egg producer). Not the hen-type egg producer (duh). But then hens must have ovaries too, or else… Sorry. I be quiet now. Not as much with the hilarity as I’d hoped. Still, better a poor joke than no joke at all.

True story (one to make the boys cross and cover): A few years ago I’m in the butcher shop (a real one, not a grocery store dept.) and see these smooth, grayish, baseball-sized-except-oval things. Ask butcher what they are. Butcher: fries. Ask butcher what fries are. Butcher: testicles. Thank butcher, then buy something else. Later, tell my elderly mother this story. She turns pale. Mother: oh my god (this was in the days before OMG). My mum (it’s an English story) used to make us those. Sliced up, and fried. They were good.
