  3. This is Engrish how, exactly? A glory hole for miners is an impressive excavation, whether it’s a huge open pit or a deep shaft. If miners are pulling ore out underground, it’s possible for the surface ground to collapse after enough ore has been removed; this creates a different kind of glory hole. One of those happened in Climax, Colorado.

    The person who took this picture and sumitted it probably didnt know that. I didnt know that until reading Cosmic’s comment. The only glory-hole I ever knew of is the kind that has to do with glass making. But most people only know of it in a dirty way.

    A gloryhole is that little glass window on the door to the furnace that you look through to see if there is fire burning inside.
