You Know Better?

engrish sign dont put stuff in toilet

Do not put any stuff in the toilet, please.  Especially like sanitary towels, those stuff bring lots of tears into our eyes.  When it gets clogged once, oh my!!  you know better?  Thanks a lot.

    Do I know better? Hmmm…….

  2. Islay says:

It’s amazing how many people think you can flush pads down a toilet.

  3. Pretentious White Girl says:

    …oh my!!

  4. Shallah says:

Lions and tigers and sanitary towels, oh my!

  5. 6262 says:

I never knew the Japs cry when they see a clogged toilet.

  6. Korin says:

Lol I like that sign, it has a rather Dr. Suess quality to it!

  7. Aoife says:

*posted* (sorry about the grammar error)

  8. Onion says:

I’d get curious. Clogging the toilet is quite amazing according to this sign.

  9. Sophie says:

Awwww that’s such a cute sign!
I will NEVER EVER bring tears to their eyes…

  10. Miss Antipodes says:

Oh sure! Take the side of the man who wrote/posted that sign!
How come no one ever thinks about the menstruating woman with a sanitary towel (?!) that needs to be disposed of? (apologies to grammar police for dangling preposition) Here in the West we have sanitary napkins, but in Korea they are still using huge bulky towels! Where’s a woman supposed to put a thing like that?

  11. Tim says:

What good is a toilet if you can’t put _any_ stuff in it?

  12. Bud Tugly says:

Is that what could be called a “Sanitary Claus” joke?

  13. Johnny Z says:

Wow, big is the woman that uses an entire sanitary towel instead of a simple sanitary napkin ;)

  14. SKW says:

This sign actually makes me feel bad. I’ve never flushed anything like that, but it makes it sound like you’d really ruin someone’s day if you did. Poor janitors. :’(

  15. ryszard says:

Nah, you’re right. Nice personalizing touch.

  16. Gauldar says:

    Passive-Aggressive Engrish sign FTW!

  17. qz says:

the korean on the sign is actually really bad too

    • CJ Tha Kid says:

how? lol the sign is in korea, written by koreans…

not to say that koreans can’t make grammatical errors, but still…

from what i see, the english is only a loose translation of the korean.

  18. Katty says:

    Oh my!!
    Haha! Best sign ever :D

  19. flippy the dolfin says:

no. i dont know better. sorries. :[

  20. La Verga de Dios says:

oh my! I’ve only cried for E.T. and for the poor janitors who clean korean toilets….. I know worst…

  21. K!K! says:

Well, at least they are asking if you know better, and not just assuming you do. And they said “please.”

  22. Wesley says:

Well, actually… both English and Korean versions of the text are more or less well written and are pretty much identical… although I’d say ‘You should know better’ at the end instead.

    • Engrish Fan says:

From what I understand, the Korean text doesn’t mention tears but actually says something like “Especially exclude sanitary napkins from the toilet water.” But “lots of tears in my eyes” sells the overall message better.

  23. hikari says:

You know it’s horribly mangled, yet it still makes sense. Hell it makes more sense than some of the people on the bus, on the way to and from work.

  24. WBTX says:

Their Janitor is such a wimp.

  25. krnoob says:

wut the, why is the korean messed up too? they talk so weird and with incorrect grammar :/

  26. Meg says:

Omg.. Poor people! Who the heck tries to flush ‘sanitary towels’? Pads are much smaller. Lol, jk.
Seriously, thats worse than people who don’t wrap pads up and they end up sticking to the lid of the bin.

  27. Kate says:

    tampons are way better.

  28. me? says:

    hahahahhahaa end up guyz ^_^

  29. closertothefurthest says:

    thanks a lot

  30. attorney says:
