This Engrish site just isn’t funny. It’s lame. There is plenty of funny Engrish out there, but it ain’t here. Americans laugh at the lamest, most boring, inconsequential deviations from their familiar vernacular… simply because they don’t get out enough. I’m from an English speaking country… and the way Americans carry on when they hear you say things a bit differently to how they do… it’s like “ooooh!!! you said tin opener instead of can opener! that is sooo weird!” B O R I N G

    Passports or maps, anyone?

Let’s not go assuming that all the morons in the world are from America, bub.

      • jedi master bates says:

They sure do a good job of making that impression on the rest of the world.

        • Obligated says:

My normal rebuttal here would be: “Yeah, your just jealous cus we even have cable in our prisons! We don’t need to be smart! We’re rich!”

However, in light of recent events….. Lets just say I’ve sold my stocks…
And invested the cash in some Rosetta Stone Learning Software.

          • Maddox79 says:

Do you think the US is the belly button of the world? “Yeah, your just jealous cus we even have cable in our prisons! In Germany they have cable in prison :-) ! Why should we be jealous ??

    • Panda panda says:

Plenty of funny engrish out there?
I didn’t see you posting nothing. Post your funny stuff, then we’ll rate how funny you are.

    • tinascratch says:

Yes, everyone should think the same things are funny.

People who think things are funny that you DON’T think are funny must be morons.

Especially if they’re American as well.

    • :P says:

Im not american, im not even from an english speaking country.

i think this site is funny. People are stupid, stupid is funny.

    • Thetrace360 says:

Just because you think that things happen one way doesn’t make it true. I’ve never once done anything like what you’re saying that we all apparently do. One of my best friends is a Brit and I’ve never once pointed out that she says things differently then I do. People from different parts of the world use different phrases, it doesn’t make any of them wrong.

    • Absynth says:

I take it this site keeps you from reading the others then? Didn’t think so.
Maybe you should just read those funny Engrish sites instead and stop spreading your personal misery to the rest of us here.

    • Inverted Spear says:

It’s easy for a European (sp?) to critisize us for not having an exposure to other cultures. For the cost of a train ticket they can be in another country that speaks another language and has an entirely different culture.

For that same relative expense I can visit another state, maybe if I’m already close to the north or south border I can hit Mexico or Canada. We have to spend so much more money to get exposure to other cultures it becomes cost prohibitive.

And personally I am proud that I can find humor in the small things like when I here a Canadian say about (a boot) or other (udder), or a Mexican say you (jew) or my personal favorite majority (May your ity)

Congrats, all of you non-americans are so much better than me just cause you happen to live in a place where you can afford to visit other places with different cultures.

    • KendratVS says:

Americans laugh at other Americans from different states because the phrases and accents are different (somone from California thinks Texans speak strangely, Texans think New Yorkers speak strangely, etc. etc.) We laugh at ourselves and other things . We also have a sense of humor and occasionally find small things comical (or just notice when things are different, and don’t necessarily find it funny or stupid), which according to you, the rest of does not. If that’s the case, I don’t envy you.

    • anon says:

if it’s so boring, why comment? wouldn’t your time be better spent on some, infinitely more entertaining site?
oh and by the way, I love that you’re complaining about how uncultured americans aren’t accepting while making judgmental, sweeping, generalizations. nice job being a hypocritical idiot.

    • Momoku says:

Wow. Way to act like a snob. Do you really think that everyone in my country can just be thrown into this big stereotype that you feel you have described to us? Perhaps you should take a good, long stare at the looking-glass and judge the image you see of yourself as critically as you judge us. Being seventeen, I will admit to being ignorant to somethings, but I keep myself quite interested in the politics of my country, as well as those in others. I read more than most. I am even studying to be both a lawyer and a translator. I am able to carry on an intelligent conversation. Do NOT make the assumption that my being an American makes me narrow-minded, self-centered, and idiotic. When judging others, bear your own flaws in mind. When judging other countries as a whole, be sure to keep in mind the inadequacies of your own country.

Perhaps this will teach you to hold your tongue.

As for the site being boring, just stop visiting it.

      Get over yourself, koibito.

      With love,
      Momoku

    OM NOM NOM NOMnivorously

  4. Schlonky says:

The beauty of the English language is that it is a mish mash of so many different languages. And the beauty of understanding it is in attempting to have some understanding of the cultural perceptions of the people trying to use it. It’s not hard.

Have a go at speaking Mandarin… that would make a funny website! This doesn’t :(

    • Panda panda says:

The beauty of joke is that when you find it’s funny, you laugh, when you find it’s not funny, you don’t laugh.

When you find this site not funny, complaining should be the last thing that you should do, show why is it not funny, show what should be funny.

Go on, make fun of people trying to speak Mandarin, make a website about it.

See how many people laugh with you…

      • Kanchou says:

Agreed. Come on, Schlonky. We’re waiting with eager anticipation.

Incidentally, Schlonky, the beauty of the WWW is that if you don’t like a web site, you can always go somewhere else. Please do.

        • Pesty says:

To add to what Kanchou said, the beauty of complaining on a web site you don’t like is…
The more you do it, the more hits they get and it makes them that much more likely to keep it up or expand it.

Schlonky, if you don’t like a website, block it so you aren’t tempted to visit it, that way we don’t have to bother with your inane ramblings.

BTW, I’ve always heard that English is actually quite difficult to learn for those with a different language as their primary, partially due to the fact that it’s a mixture of several other languages and constantly changing and evolving.

    • ethana2 says:

That is not beauty. That is the epitome of inelegance. It causes problems, it’s a pain in the butt. If our language didn’t suck so much, our kids would probably be reading and writing a year earlier on average.

One of these days I’m going to ditch english for lojban.

    • Private Parts says:

shouldn’t that be, “that it is an Amish mash of so many different languages” ?

  5. Habbit Runter says:

Schlonky, I am a moron who laughs at EVERYTHING… I am not american

  6. thereisnodanaonlyzuul says:

Anything that makes me laugh when I’m at my hellhole of a is ok by me!

  7. thereisnodanaonlyzuul says:

uh, job… I left out job!!! My keyboard is rebelling!!!

  8. tinascratch says:

I guess if you’re a vegetarian you just litter?

  9. La Verga de Dios says:

C’mon this is funny, in fact all this blog is really funny and I’m not from an english speaking country…. but I’m from american continent, so well, I’m american, too….

  10. kopaka says:

good thing i am an omnivor!

  11. kopaka says:

    happy Dia De Los Muertos!

  12. emro says:

Someone is just trying to be a party pooper! haha Don’t look at the sight if you don’t like it. It makes me wonder how many Americans (or anyone else for that matter) wear shirts or have tattoos with other languages that may have been misinterpreted. Overall funny sight, in my opinion.

  13. gary says:

    crazy omnivores…

  14. Jason says:

WHAT THE HELL!!??!! what doem omnivorously mean anyway?????
