wow, i googled it and they seem to be aware of what the name means: http://tinyurl.com/6e2uhp
in the description it says something like “steel bed in jail grid design. delivery always with one handcuff…”
Etage 7 seems to be selling designer furniture. They enlist this bed on their Homepage too… i guess it’s not a coincidence. Might be a niche-thing for special customers who like to get themselfes a bed with that Name.
And as Germany is at least a bit easier going on this things it would not even cause more than a few good laughs. Maybe some uptights would geht their feelings hurt, but they will always find something to hurt themselfs… won’t they?
get a rest, guys, not every non-native english speaker is stupid.
and it wasn’t etage 7 who devised that name but the designers themselves, they’re called “noodles noodles & noodles” and NO, that name’s also not a translation fail.
it’s a reference to “jailhouse rock” – we could start a debate now if the play on words is actually funny (which i think is not the case), but at least it was chosen in full awareness of the implications.
It says “Glory! 17 Comment” on the page, but when I click on it there’s no comments – only the message “No comment, is make blues.” Did they all post in invisible text or is something wrong with the page?
You can actually see something that looks like a handcuff in the picture, lol. I was curious though what piece of furniture they called bologna, are they curtains maybe?
Visible (if you know what you’re looking for) in the Engrish post, but *clearly* visible in the enlarged photo on the company website, is a set of police-style cuffs hanging from the headboard.
No, they’re not the same—but thanks to the glories of Simplified Chinese, what used to be written as two different characters are now written the same.
First…… for the first time. And it does look like a jailhouse. Not sure what the next bit was supposed to translate as. Not dry, thats for sure.

Well, at least the title is funny…
ah, obviously i could post the one with the link, it just took some time to show up..
Anyone ever think they might just be kinky Europeans who are really into extreme roleplaying situations?

Aha – had to post to make them all appear. 8P
They also have a bed called Iron Mayden…
I’d never sleep on this… too scary ^^
But look at furniture by IKEA
They also have funny names xD E.g. a bath mat called “wixen” which is wank in English…
yeah!
but “gutvik” doesn´t look like it´s very comfortable….
Lol, that made my day =)

No, they’re not the same—but thanks to the glories of Simplified Chinese, what used to be written as two different characters are now written the same.

Hmmm…. I could use one of those.
Yeah, I agree. We definitely use a lot of English words – and English curse words are *super cool*
