‘Dong Da’ as seen in the picture is not referring to any region. It’ already obvious the that region reference is already made with ‘Beijing’. ‘Dong Da’ here is simply the transliteration of the two Chinese glyphs meaning ‘east’ and ‘big’, respectively. It would indeed be just the name of the hospital (Dong Da hospital in Beijing, so to speak).

Yes, although to be completely correct it would have to read “Anal and Intestinal Diseases” otherwise it would be a hospital for one particular anus and intestine – and for only one disorder of those. It could be correct though; maybe it’s a really small office that just treats the guy on the sign. Of course, if he’s as enthusiastic as he appears, they’ll need to find a new anus and intestine to treat soon.

Why do I have the nagging feeling that the hospital’s name is, in fact, “Dong Da” and there’s not one spelling error in the sign?
However, that guy is either waaaay too happy. Either the sedatives from his operation are still in effect, or the pic was taken durring the operation/investigation itself. That would expain the strained expression on the guy’s face.
